No matter how young or how old, we were all created to serve! We value volunteers and desire to equip them to serve in an area where they can exercise their unique gifts. There’s a place for you to do what you’re great at as we follow Jesus and lead others to do the same.

Student Team

Joao and Katie Taurisano both have a passion for student ministry… their story even began out of their love for student ministry when they met at First Baptist Orlando’s Camp Orlando while Katie was on staff and Joao came as a camp volunteer.

Joao came to Orlando via Brazil, where he immediately plugged into serving at First Baptist Orlando through the student and Brazilian ministries. After working on the student ministry staff at our John Young campus, Joao is thrilled to launch Horizon West Students.

His wife, Katie, worked on the student ministry staff at our John Young campus from 2008-2014 and then taught at The First Academy until 2016 when they had their first child. Joao and Katie now have two boys, John and Lucca. Katie is excited to help support Joao and reach the students of Horizon West.

Halftime takes place in the courtyard between our Sunday morning services for students (6-12th grade) to hangout with our Student Ministry team between services and serving rotations. Students can play games, meet other students, learn about what’s happening with Horizon West Students, and get connected to a serve team.

Middle School Midweek

Middle School Midweeks meet each Wednesday at the Daffron Home (14954 Tullamore Loop, Winter Garden, FL 34787) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for 6th-8th grade students. Our midweeks exist to develop students in their knowledge of Jesus while maturing in their faith through community.

High School G3 Gathering

High School Students meet weekly for our off-campus midweek group called G3 because we desire for students to Gather, Grow and Go as a community. Our G3 meets in the Forbes Home on Wednesday evenings (1013 Via Tivoli Court, Windermere, FL 34786) from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

MVMT (pronounced “Movement”) is a once a month worship gathering of Middle and High School students designed to help them unite with God and other students through authentic music and engaging teaching. Students can join us for food and fun activities starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Faith Hall building of our John Young Campus (3000 S. John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32805)
