The Good Friday Project 2019

April 19, 2019 9:30am Orlando Union Rescue Mission

We have been invited to support the Orlando Union Rescue Mission’s (OURM) annual Easter Banquet this year on Good Friday! On April 19th, we have an opportunity to support an event that will serve nearly 1,000 men, women, and children living in poverty.

OURM just requested 55 volunteers from First Baptist Orlando, and it’s our hope to answer the call! You can serve in three ways:

1. Footwasher – OURM has 25 spots available for First Orlando volunteers to serve as Footwashers. This experience for banquet guests will include a time to wash feet and provide a new pair of shoes (OURM has asked that footwashers be 18 years and older).

2. Tour Guide – OURM has 30 spots available for First Orlando volunteers to serve as Tour Guides. Every banquet guest will be escorted by a Tour Guide through a process that includes a footwashing experience. Each guest will also receive a new pair of shoes and a hygiene bag. Tour Guides will ensure that every banquet guest is greeted, encouraged, and guided through the footwashing experience. Tour Guides are encouraged to build a relational connection with guests, pray for them, and even share the Gospel as the Lord may lead!

3. NEW Shoes – First Baptist Orlando will be collecting NEW pairs of shoes (all sizes for all ages male and female) during all weekend services at the John Young and Horizon West campuses on April 7th and April 14th. You can drop off new shoes in the Community Care Center area near the Gather Place at the John Young campus or in the Connections are at Horizon West.
